BAD QUALITY CONTROLI purchased this item in August of 2010 to go into my car I drive to work. My wife got jealous and had me order one for the car she drives. They arrived and were installed and worked pretty well until we both noted a common problem in two different vehicles. The units have a digital clock that loses in excess of a half hour every day thereby making the clock function/display totally useless.WORTHLESS CUSTOMER SERVICE.I contacted the service department of the manufacturer, related the problem, and was told they would check into the malfunction. The person promised to return my call with information to remedy the problem somehow. That was over 5 months ago and I never heard anything else from them.DEFECTIVE UNIT.Next, the identical unit that was installed in my wife's car began to become highly unstable, or basically, to go berserk at any moment without any notable outside influences. We would be driving down a smooth highway or street when all of a sudden, the unit would begin changing stations on its own. Sometimes stopping for about 10 seconds, and then simply running rapidly through them and stopping at random intervals on different places. This was NOT after any radio scan selections or any other input to the pressure sensitive screen whatsoever. Adding to this, the unit would simultaneously engage its screen tilt circuits to go up down and/or open for the DVD port access, and if we were lucky, might decide to change the signal source, or sometimes would do all of this and then simply turn itself totally off. At best, she could get about ten minutes stable operation... just enough for most quick trips, but totally unsuitable for any pleasure driving. The front panel is removable by design for security reason, and because of this, the contacts between the faceplate and the main unit are visible. Attempts to clean the contacts with a cotton swab and electronic contact cleaner yielded no improvement. Mind you, the units we purchased were brand new, and the condition with her unit started within a couple of days.I had her unit removed and the original one reinstalled and disposed of the defective one.Lately, the unit in my vehicle has had a couple of mornings when the unit seemed to freeze operation during its power up period, not playing at all and totally unresponsive to any commands, even to shut off! I had to kill my engine to remove power to it. After a restart, it seemed to be OK. Still, it should have lasted longer than 7 months before beginning to show signs of failing from age or anything else. GENERALLY POOR QUALITY BUILD!I anticipate having to get a better unit soon from a better manufacturer.
