Sound Storm has always been on the front end of technological advances as they pertain to mobile entertainment. In-dash DVD players with built-in monitors have grown exponentially in popularity over the past couple of years. Sound Storm Laboratories recognizes the importance of keeping passengers entertained. Due to the increased popularity of these units, we challenged our engineers to develop a series of in-dash DVD players with built-in monitors that would provide a high quality, yet affordable entertainment solution for 12-volt system builders. The DD622B is a Bluetooth enabled, in-dash Double DIN DVD/MP3/CD AM/FM receiver with a 6.2" widescreen touchscreen monitor. This unit also features USB and SD/MMC card ports and a front panel 3.5mm A/V input. Screen resolution of 1440 x 234 pixels, brightness of 600 NITS, and wide angle/off-axis visibility helps effectively keep passengers entertained. Addition features include on-screen menu display, NTSC/PAL/PALM/PALN/SECAM compatible monitor, a PLL synthesized tuner with 30 station presets, and switchable USA/European frequencies. This unit provides maximum flexibility with separate bass and treble adjustment and balance and fader controls, dual audio stereo/video RCA outputs for system building, and a wireless remote control. 5Really?
By Jonathan C. Evans
I don't understand why people give bad reviews to things they clearly haven't bought or understand. This unit is made to prevent video from playing unless the e-brake is on! Yes, there are ways to circumvent it, but it is still absurd to give it a bad review based on the people that "might" be using it illegally around you.I just got this in the mail after a lightning deal for $175. I uploaded some pictures, but should have it installed by the weekend and will update this review once I have been able to experience it for a while and give you some true insight to the product.Edit: I got it installed after I got my wire harness in. Very painless and easy to install. The unit itself... it's not so great. There are so many areas that I can certainly tell this thing may just not live up to continuous use. Here's my Pro/Con list:Pro:1. Cheap. Got it on a lightning deal for $175. You can't beat that anywhere on a new unit.2. Lots of inputs and outputs. See my pictures for a reference.3. Easy to install. It actually has it's own wiring harness so I was able to solder that harness to another harness I ordered to go from stock wiring to after market. You could EASILY use wire caps though.4. Decent picture. All things considered, it is a pretty clear picture. The only issue you will have is viewing dark movies in daylight. At night, this thing is crystal clear.5. Expandable. SD Card. USB. DVD/CD. Although having the USB dongle is a little annoying, it's not a huge deal.Cons:1. Interface. UGH! Let me tell you now, if you are not a patient person, this unit is probably not for you. It takes a solid 20-25 seconds for the unit to power on, load, search the SD card, and then resume play from a previous song. Swapping between modes is actually painfully slow. The interface itself is not intuitive and makes it very difficult to select songs (ESPECIALLY while driving) since you have to be very accurate with it. It does come with a stylus, but come on, nobody is gonna pick it up to change songs! You get used to it, but it could certainly be better.2. Touch screen can act funny almost as if it is not calibrated, but it does have a calibration. You click on "Stop" and it will fast forward even though it is two buttons away. Could be my unit, not sure.3. Options. First off, the settings for this thing are all over the place. You have to study the manual (which is in HORRIBLE Engrish) to get around to what you need. I do have a subwoofer, but one feature I miss from my old stock unit was the ability to adjust the bass easily. You can adjust the volume, fade (front/back, side/side), and treble, but not the bass! You have to back out of the song and go into the settings to adjust it, then make you way back out to play the song.4.Lag. There are some videos (and songs a couple of times) that lag during certain parts. For instance, I loaded up several Futurama episodes on the SD card. The intro on ALL of them lag. The majority of the rest play well except for those 3Dish scenes when I can tell the unit just can't handle them. This happens sometimes with my brothers $600 unit as well, but it is still an annoyance. May try to load them from a faster (Class 10) SD card or a DVD to see if that is at fault.Do I regret the purchase? Not yet. It is not a solid unit by any means, but I wasn't anticipating much either. It sure made my parents (technically challenged) drop their jaw, but me (technically capable) can see many flaws. I probably wouldn't buy it again and just invest the extra $100 or so to get a better model. If you are real patient and don't mind some goofy settings, you could probably benefit.Overall, I give it 3 stars, but to make up for the horrible review below me, I will leave it at 5 stars to give it an overall 3 rating.

1Some techncial difficulty
By Tony Tran
I really wanted to love this radio. It was a lightning deal at $175 so I took a chance with no reviews posted at the time. Out of the box it is very cool. The device was properly labeled and easy to match up to the wire harness I bought. As someone else said though, the instruction manual for this leaves much to be desired. I still don't know what half the buttons do on this machine.Cons:1) The radio will suddenly change stations on its own. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. EDIT: I think this has something to do with searching for a traffic station. I've turned off that setting and it seems to be ok.2) If it doesn't change stations, occasionally it will play for 20 seconds then go to static.3) Sometimes the sound seems to be hollow even when I have perfect reception. It will jump in and out of have a clear sound.4) It is finicky when playing DVDs and you want to navigate the menu. On some DVDs I insert, the default playing mode is to have director's commentary on. Why I have no idea. Trying to turn it off is a pain. Sometimes it will let you enter the main menu to go to features, but other times it will take you straight out of DVD mode and into the Unit's main menu to choose a function (e.g. radio, bluetooth, etc.). Nothing is consistent.5) The clock is super small and the time is always off. Sometimes it will be in the standard 12 hr format with am/pm, but other times it will go into military time and still have the am/pm. For example, 16:35 am. Also, this unit doesn't leave the clock on the screen when you turn the radio off. It's a shame since I don't have another internal clock in my truck. Some of the nicer units will leave the clock there for you.Pros:1) The bluetooth feature is nice. However, in my truck you have to talk very loudly for the mic to pick up your voice clearly. Maybe my truck isn't as sound proof from outside noise as other cars.2) Works nicely with the optional back up camera I installed. Picture quality is pretty nice. The device automatically switches over when you go into reverse. However, I wish they would've added another feature for you to force it to select back up camera at any time. It would be nice to see objects in tow. I could see how maybe that could be illegal, since it is a video device playing while in movement. But in this case, I don't see how it's any different from taking your eyes off the road to look in your rear view mirror. It's not a movie or anything. EDIT: This feature is no longer working after 3 months. It reads "no video signal" on both the back up camera and auxiliary video inputs. Called for tech support and looks like it is covered under warranty, but I have to cover the $60 shipping costs. EDIT: warranty service was a big FAIL. Went two months without the unit and got it back without the problem fixed. Had to send them a video of my problem because they didn't believe me. Sent the unit back and got a refurbished unit with the same problem. I give up.3) I didn't think the load up time was too bad. It's slow, but acceptable to me.In the end, I think I should've done more research before jumping on the lightning deal. I think it's worth it to pay another $100 to go for a name brand device. Or for the same price, I think you can get a Pyle on Amazon with what looks like some solid reviews. I recommend you pass on this machine.

1Item not working
By atclate
When I bought this product, I hoped to give a positive review to support a not so mainstream car audio brand.Item shipment came in seemingly great shape. Installed it. The screen came up. After a few seconds, as I try to navigate with the touch screen, smoke came out, and the screen stopped working. I was able to insert a CD, and it started playing my music, but the screen never came on after that.I'm disappointed. I'm going back to mainstream brands.
