still hopeful for a good Flip Down

This product had a lot going for it such as the built in tv tuner, wireless head phone and the price. What ruined it for me is the absolutely non- existence of instructions of how to install it. I already had a previous non-working flip down system in my vehicle so doing it myself shouldn't been hard. Instead all the instruction said is go to a professional to install. Even the Professionals want the instruction owners manual.

Short life, finicky controls

Bought and installed this to help entertain the kids during a cross country trip about 9 months ago. I wrestled and fought with it to figure out how to install it, but managed, without help from any kind of instructions from the dvd player. It worked well enough for playing dvds, but even though I am in a metropolitan area I could never get any kind of signal from the tv tuner at all. The controls were not intuitive at all, but the instruction book wasn't adequate. It played the DVDs in two modes- one which works and the other which makes it jump from playing the previews repeatedly to playing the ending credits in French. Really odd. It is nice to route the sound through my FM radio and van speakers, but not easy to change back and forth if you wanted.Then, this last weekend, it decided to completely stop working properly at all. The sound works, but not the video. The screen is almost completely darkened. At first we hoped changing the brightness would help, but it is impossible to see what is on the screen, even in the complete dark. You can only see by trying to read the glare off the screen in certain lights. The brightness, assuming we were actually able to adjust the right thing, didn't do a thing. So I think we are going to have to replace it, which is frustrating. A 9 month life cycle is not acceptable to me.Especially with the fact the TV tuner was nonfunctionable I would not suggest you buy this product.
