The FRDR-AUX is an Auxiliary Audio input adapter for specified OEM Ford/ Lincoln / Mercury 1998-2005 radios that provides a direct audio input through the Rear Control Unit found in the trunk of vehicles with the multi-piece radio. This audio input uses RCA connectors and is perfect for adding an iPod, satellite radio tuner, video game system, DVD, or other device without the poor quality of FM transmitters or tape adapters.

1999 Ford Taurus with MACH stereo

This thing is AWESOME. I'm using it to hook up my iPod to the car's stereo system. Took literally 15 minutes to install in my 1999 Taurus (with MACH stereo) and it sounds great! The only 'hard' part is trying to hide the cable that you have to run from the trunk to the cabin of the car (which isn't included - you have to buy your own.. I'm running it under the back seat, inside the rear door trim, under the front seat, to the console in between the seats.)NOTE - CRUTCHFIELD SAYS: "Factory radio must have one preset button labeled "COMP" and another preset button labeled 'SHUFFLE'."I didn't have either one of those buttons - but it still worked. You just hit the 'CD' button and it will switch over.

Works great in my Mercury Sable Wagon 1999. It was super easy to install, it took only 2 minutes! The sound is a little better than a tape deck but I bought this because I have tape player hiccup issues and this fixed it :D

Good quality & bad installation.

I installed this device in my 2007 Taurus.Good:The sound quality is very good.Bad:1. The AD figure in amazon.com shows a FEMALE rca connector HOWEVER it is a MALE connector. So I buy another female RCA to 3.5mm stereo adapter.2. Not easy to install. I installed it in my trunk. Fortunately, I have a 12 ft stereo extension cable. I stick that cable from trunk through rear platform on top of rear seat and then from floor to the front seat. It is really not an easy job if you don't have any experience on installation.
