Great DVD player, Caution for the Wireless FM

I got this for my 2 year old daughter when we take long rides in the car. It's great for keeping her entertained, and I wish I'd bought one sooner.I put this in my 2008 Honda CRV. I should have purchased the dark grey color. The "grey" version is lighter than my existing seats. Oh well.Video quality is great. No complaints.I can't seem to get the remote to work unless it's right in front of the unit. Not so great if I need to make adjustments for my daughter while I'm in the front seat (like restarting a DVD). Hopefully she will learn the remote soon on her own!I had it professionally installed, which cost me about one hundred fifty bucks. It took about an hour for the install.The big problem I had was with the audio. The wireless FM transmitter (for playing sound through the speakers) is horrible in my car. It emitted a very loud HUM, no matter which channel I set it to, and the overall volume on the DVDs were barely audible.Problem solved with having a wired FM modulator hooked up to the DVD system. Set me back another one fifty, but worth it. The sound is now perfect through the speakers in my car. Wish someone would have told me about this before the initial install. It would have saved me time and money! Hope this tip saves you the hassle I went through.***UPDATE***Almost 2 years later, I still have this DVD player installed in my car. It gets used several times a month and we have had no problems with it. I love it, and so do my kids!

Stopped Working at 8 Months

DVD player stopped working at 8 months. It would spin the disc but not read it.I purchased a DVD laser cleaner, hoping it would fix it. I cleaned the laser and it did not help. The screen would work, if you used a different portable device to play through the screen. Which we did for a trip we had planned, right after the unit stopped working.Important note on the warranty of this item, it says it has a 12 month warranty. However, that is only if you pay for a professional installation from a professional installation facility and you keep the receipt and paperwork for the install. If you self install, the warranty is only 90 days!!! I paid a coworker to install and it worked great for 8 months.Thankfully, I had purchased an extended warranty here on Amazon. If you still decide to purchase, get some kind of extended warranty.
